This particular MKV contains both French and English audio plus subtitles. I have tried 4 times using different formats and they all look fine except I don't have the full video. Recently, I am unable to convert an MKV and have it convert the whole video. Some times, MKVtools works great but if I set different configurations than letting it go by default, then I end up with strange results. If I send MKV to the TiVo, the subtitles get stripped. The reason is usually so I can transfer the video to my TiVo and have the subtitles go with the video.
I have used MKVtools to convert a few videos to AVI videos. Really hope to see this dev continue it"s development for MKVTools. So probably something wrong at creating the preference file ? Like if everything is set to "pass-through". On the darker side : it sometimes just "refuses" to compress. But it at least uses 100% of computing power (2 X Xeon 2.93Ghz) but it's really worth the wait :-) the result looks really great on my 55" display. mkv file, leaving out unneeded soundtracks and subtitles, with a minimum of hassle, then this is the way to go !Īnd I can only say one thing : the output is simply astonishing. It doesn't offer as much tweaks as Handbrake, but if you're looking for an app that will convert your 30GB large. Why ? If you are looking to convert videos to either MP4 or AVI videos, then you should try either MP4tools or AVItools. It will not, however, create MP4 or AVI files. This is a new and improved version of the application which will focus on what the original version was not very good at - the creation and editing of MKV files. For users of the original MVtools (i.e., MKVtools 2), the naming convention could be a bit confusing. MKVtools is the part of the VIDEOtoolbox Suite of applications used for the creation and editing of MKV videos.
